Starting a new commission. This one is sort of a mix of a typical side job and an art commission. My wife put it out there on her Facebook that I am looking to do commissions and she got a response from someone in our town who looking for me to restore a vintage Highland Lakes sign. When it's all together it's about 8’ by 4’. The wood has some rot and plant growth and chipped paint all over it. So, I have to first strip down every piece. For this I used an electric planer on the edges and a belt sander on the front and back surface. Cleaning out the old paint from the routed-out lettering was a little more difficult and time consuming. Through much trial and error, I found the best and quickest way was to use a router.
